Hello Class of 72,
1. Viruses and Spam: A couple of problems have popped up lately regarding this. One classmate reported a virus on our site at www.1972tartars.com. Although our web host couldn’t find any evidence of anything peculiar, the passwords were changed and extra protection was installed to make sure nothing like this ever happens. On your end, be sure to keep your virus software up to date.
Another classmate, Jeff Lynch, keeps getting something from a website labeled Your Alumni Archive Spotlight Newsletter and asking for $20. It has all of our names on it and looks as though it might be associated with our class website or the reunion committee. It isn’t (and I personally think it might have something to do with Jeff’s habitual visitation of sites and blogs having ill repute). It appears to be a Classmates.com type of website sent out in a SPAM-like manner. Keep your spam software up to date as well. All emails from me regarding our class will began with “THS” in the subject line (i.e. THS Class News, THS Reunion Plans, etc.) When I send these emails they go out 50 at a time and may appear as SPAM. In order to keep up to date with plans, events, and news, please add both chairman@1972tartars.com and fr8rcapt@msn.com (my personal email) to your computer’s Safe List.
Please notify me immediately if you experience any of the problems above or have any concerns about the security of our site or my emails.
2.The Hollis’s: As most of you know, Rock and Theresa Fagan-Hollis have both remained very active with our old alma matter since graduating from Torrance High. After marrying and having children, Rock joined the THS football program as Assistant Coach for 3 years and has been their head coach for the past 14 years (a school record). Theresa began working in the Administration Department and is now the Secretary to the Principal’s office.
It’s been brought to my attention that Theresa was recognized last month by the THS PTSA and received an Honorary Service Award for her hard work and dedication to Torrance High School. And for those who didn’t hear, Rock and his staff took an undefeated THS Varsity Football Team (2007 Pioneer league Champions) to the first round of the CIF Championships. They unfortunately lost, but needless to say, it was a proud and exciting year for everyone. Congratulations to both of them!
It’s been real quiet since our 35th. I hope everyone is doing well. As always, if you have photos or news about you or your family, please send it to me and I’ll post it to our site.

Hello classmates,
1. SoCal Fire – Unfortunately the home of our classmate, Kathy Ainsworth-Arias, was a victim to the devastating fires that hit the area last week. To read the email I received from Gail Morgan, click HERE. Monte Robold, Bill Hughes, and Bob Fitzgerald were in areas under evacuation orders but came through it OK. The area that Ginger Companik-Clotworthy lives in came very close to being affected as well. If you know of any other classmates who were affected by the fires, please email me at chairman@1972tartars.com and I’ll relay the news.
2. THS Car Show- Don Patterson represented our class at the 3rd Annual THS Classic and Custom Car and Motorcycle Show recently held on campus on October 13th. Pictures of Don’s restored GTO as well as other classic autos are in the Recent Alumni Pictures section of our site.
3. Recent Alumni Photos –Check out the Recent Alumni Pictures area of our site for some recently submitted photos of Doug Paulin, Kathy Bergen-Rossier, Theresa Beaver, and Debbie Moore-Mecham
4. Chairman or Fr8rCapt? – Once in a while I have a problem with the host server when it comes to the chairman address that I would prefer everyone use. But all has been well for the past few months. Please use the Chairman@1972tartars.com address for news, questions, and pictures first. If I don’t get back to you in a timely manner then use my personal address (Fr8rcapt@msn.com) as a backup.
