Hi everyone,
A special thanks to all that attended the golf tournament, the party at my house, and the reunion last weekend, and a wish to all those who couldn't attend to make it to future get-togethers with your “Class of 72.”
The golf event was spectacular, a little warm but that just added to the "hydrating process.” We went off without a hitch at noon with 31 players. A few alumni like Fitzgerald, Debbie Scarborough, and Ron Simon paid but had last minute cancelations. Those that played and their groupings are listed below. | Brandy, Scott Schneider, Mark Irvine and myself started the tournament and endured 18 holes of birdies, booze, bumps, and belches. The longest drive went to Kim Hornbeck, closest to the hole on the front was Stan Stratos, and on the back was, all the way from Wyoming, Randy Bickham. The lowest score and the winning team was Poulin, Bickham, Lynch and Solis. I wrote out the rules, which was a best ball scramble with everyone receiving 3 marked balls to be used to reduce your teams score at the end if you brought them back. I got a lot of shit about that idea but it went well. Had some real competitive scores- a 59, two 61's, and others that were close. I should have known that I couldn't trust Poulin's team. They looked for a wrinkle in the rules and decided after 9 holes that they might have the winning low score since I did not specify "18" holes. Consequently, they won the first annual Tartar cup. It is a gallon jug of German beer in a nice container and it will pass from tournament to tournament until the last winner has to down it. Marie is going to get a nice plaque made to attach to it. The night at my house was just right, lots of giggles about the golf, good food and drink. The temperature had dropped to about 75 which made for a great time out on the back deck. Had a few people spend the night which only heightened the enjoyment through to the next morning.
I had a wonderful time putting this together and look forward to the next outing. Ginger Companik or Cheryl Macdonald indicated they might do a tourney next year.
